I am a BACP Integrative Psychotherapist (BSc) (MSc) (INHC) with over 8 years of experience working within the mental health industry.

I am a versatile practitioner with extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, specialising in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem / identity challenges, neuro-diversity, substance misuse, and food-related challenges.

I employ a creative, adaptive and holistic approach to mental health, addressing not just an individual's symptoms, but ones overall quality of life. I believe my role as a therapist is to provide others with the tools and resources they need in order to thrive.

I operate within a compassionate, safe, anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and intersectional framework.

Explore what I offer

I have specific experience within both the private and public sector working long-term with adults navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem / identity challenges, trauma, neuro-diversity, substance misuse and food related difficulties.

My collaborative approach prioritises fostering lasting growth and well-being by cultivating mindfulness, compassion, and connection. Having personally experienced the profound impact of therapy, I dedicate myself to providing that same space for others. I am devoted to fostering a secure, compassionate, and inquisitive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their inner lives and cultivate a deeper understanding of their interpersonal connections and place in the world.

My way of working focuses on understanding and meeting your specific individual circumstances and needs. As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw upon a diverse toolkit of evidence-based approaches including Person-centred, Gestalt and Relational Psychodynamic frameworks in order to provide personalised care aligned with your specific requirements.

Within our therapy we may explore opportunities for repairable experiences, emotional regulation and work on practical tools that best support you. The responsibility of supporting individuals during vulnerable times is a task which I uphold with the highest level of care and respect.

  • Long-term therapy is a collaborative, on-going process of self-discovery and healing. Unlike short-term therapy, which often focuses on immediate symptom relief, long-term therapy provides a consistent, secure environment where you can explore the root causes of your challenges. It requires on-going commitment to yourself.

The duration of your long-term therapy will be explored through our ongoing collaboration, and you retain the full autonomy to conclude our sessions at any point you choose.

  • I offer an optional complimentary 20-minute introductory consultation prior to booking an initial session. While this conversation does not constitute a formal therapy session, it serves as a valuable opportunity for us to explore your goals and for you to get a sense if my approach is the right fit for your current specific needs. It is important to select a therapist who resonates with you.

  • Within our initial session, we will collaboratively explore our therapeutic agreement. During this process, I will share things such as privacy rules, cancellation policies and provide time for you to ask any questions. At your own pace, we will explore what brings you here, this may include thinking about symptoms, personal histories, and current support systems. It is common to feel nervous, awkward, or even blank when first meeting a new therapist. I hold this in mind, seeking to offer a gentle and supportive space, ensuring you feel safe as we look into your current challenges together.

  • A common misconception is that therapy provides an immediate linear improvement. Progress in therapy is rarely linear; it can be a transformative journey that extends beyond immediate symptom relief to target the root of your difficulties.

Particularly working long-term, I have noticed how, as an individual progresses through therapy, their needs and goals may shift. Throughout the therapy process we will have collaborative reviews to ensure the therapy remains relevant to you.

Who I am

My name is Matilda (BS / BSc) (MSc) (INC), I have 8+ years experience working in the field of mental health.

My practice is grounded in a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, which provides a rigorous scientific foundation in human behaviour and cognitive processes. I specialised by a Post-Graduate Distinction Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling, with my training including two awarded certificates in therapeutic skills and studies.

I am also a qualified Integrative Nutritional Health Coach. This allows me to incorporate the biopsychosocial model of health, addressing how nutrition and lifestyle factors influence neurochemistry and emotional regulation.

My approach is rooted in the belief that healing occurs through a balance of creative expression, physical movement, mindful nourishment and interpersonal relationships.

I am a creative person with a deep-rooted appreciation for the natural world and animal companionship. Outside of work, I prioritise engaging in regular physical activity and expressing my passion for holistic nutrition through the art of cooking.
